Hello and welcome to Green Quad.
In this first post I will discuss my reasons for establishing this blog.
I have recently been hearing a lot about environmental degradation, global warming, and what should be done about it. Some of these opinions have been reasoned and informed and some not. Many people hear these contradictory messages and disregard them all together, while others take action based on misinformation. I feel it is necessary to create a place where accurate information concerning these issues can be found, and where differing opinions are addressed.
I do not have all the answers; I am a concerned citizen with questions worth exploring. I welcome you fellow eco students to join me as we explore these questions together:
Why?
What is happening to our planet?
Are we in the midst of a global climate crisis?
What has been done?
Why hasn't more been done?
Without these questions the next set would be invalid, but without going on to the next set, the previous set would be useless.
How?
What can we do about it?
Who needs to do what?
What opportunities exist?
How can I benefit personally?
How long will this take?
What results can we expect?
How will we measure them?
What are the different stages we are likely to encounter?
I consider myself an environmentalist because I am concerned about our environment. I am also a pragmatist and a businessperson. This blog will focus on concrete answers with feasible and effective applications. I also believe that free market capitalism, regulated to prevent externalities and coercion, is the most effective agent of change, and this blog will concern itself largely with business applications.
